music: this is why we love autumn

We just got back from our 1 week trip from Rotorua and boy were we ready to come home! Also wanted to write this down before I lose my feelings of wonder and whimsy. This get away is our first ever break since 2022 and I came back feeling absolutely renewed!

I'm naturally a home pigeon and have always preferred to be in the comforts of my own space. But I guess I can be fickle too and can never stay in one place for years and years without a buffer. It was to the point that being at home felt tiring. Also because I hoard all of my annual leaves in hopes of being able to fly back and visit home.

I thoroughly, wholeheartedly enjoyed this brief get away. It was a well and truly, a break. Days were mostly spent in nature; bike rides; long walks; hot spring soaks, and good food. Not to mention the views! Oh, the views! I'll do a run down post of the places we've been to but just the hills, the rolling meadows, the geysers, rock formations, waterfalls, unique landscapes, cattle... It just goes to show I haven't been out in the world for a very long time ꉂ(˵˃ ᗜ ˂˵)

Very grateful to be able to live... to be granted to live in such a place where lush nature exists and is still being valued and appreciated. I hope in my heart that these valuable natural or native assets will be preserved & protected. Though I understand that with economic progress these often are overshadowed and are at the bottom end of the priority list. (I swear if I were a millionaire or even close to being one, or halfway to being one, I'd financially support their conservation as most of them rely on charity #being-a-breadwinner-is-not-easy).

To some degree the saying, "distance makes the heart grow fonder" applied to my realization at the end of this trip. Being at home now feels a lot more comfortable again. The joy of having things arranged to your liking, small corners in your own space that holds its purpose, etc. Home feels like home again and I'm glad to be back.

PS. I get teary-eyed every time a beautiful landscape comes to view because I no longer have to hurry and reach for my phone to snap a photo. Neh is now right beside me and is now enjoying the view too
